Transgender swimmer Lia Thomas has caused controversy over the entirety of the last year after competing and winning in the women’s category at the NCAA National Championships. Now, to add to the growing unpopularity of the situation the University of Pennsylvania has nominated the controversial swimmer for “Woman of the Year”- a nomination unwelcome by everyone. Thomas earlier competed for the men’s team at UPenn before switching to the women’s team after her transition last year.

The controversial move was not welcome by anyone, as Thomas received backlash from fellow swimmers, parents and experts alike. The Ivy League swimmer has been nominated by the University for the award that, according to the NCAA website, is for, “academic achievements, athletics excellence, community service and leadership of graduating female college athletes from all three divisions.” Twitter was not happy about the nomination and had quite a few protestors.

Twitter denounces Lia Thomas after being nominated for ‘Woman of the Year’

The Woman of the Year selection panel will pick 30 honourees, from which they will then announce nine finalists — three from each NCAA division, according to the organisation’s website. People did not want Lia Thomas to get the honour, nor did they think she was deserving of it.

Lia Thomas is a dude, UPenn is a joke, and the NCAA has no credibility for accepting the nomination.

Lia Thomas is a man. No matter what fucking leftists think, he will always be a fucking man.

Lia Thomas was just nominated by the University of Pennsylvania for the NCAA 'WOMAN OF THE YEAR' award!

The other female swimmers have to just sit back and accept it because the left has made complaints into a problem now.

This is just unacceptable.

Funny how woman have fought so hard for their rights all these years and to gain equality and then Lia Thomas decides to be a woman and a a year or so in is given a woman of the year award, if I was a woman I’d be pissed! It seems men really do still rule! #Trojanhorse https://t.co/YsNpwEZr7b

Twitter was rightfully outraged at the situation, many calling UPenn ignorant and uncaring about their actual female athletes for going ahead and nominating Thomas for an award that should be for actual women.
